I’m Judith Zoë Blijden, a legal philosopher based in The Netherlands. Is This Art Maybe is my creative playground where I develop methodologies, concepts, and frameworks and translate my insights into art and productions. My aim is to promote reflection and awareness about the impact of technology on our existence.
I was a Landecker Democracy Fellow (2022-2023), during which I created ‘The Digital Period‘, a public philosophy project about autonomy and period apps (that I made accessible through podcasting – listen to it here).
The impact of technology on society has been a central theme in her work. I currently work as a Senior Policy Officer Digital Transition at the Social and Economic Council of The Netherlands. There my role is to research the impact of technology and assess what policies could be enacted to mitigate risks and unlock opportunities from a societal perspective. I have worked as a consultant, consulting on legal and policy issues regarding the use of technology while working at the Dutch consultancy firm PBLQ. During my time as a consultant, I was a board member for the digital rights organisation Bits of Freedom. I have worked for the Dutch NGO Kennisland and the European NGO Communnia Association where I focussed on improving access to information and (digital) culture.
